Description
Online portal which contain metadata on public archive institutions in Norway, and also a great number of private archive collections. Allows you to browse catalogue information, provides details on how to order access and contact details to every archive owner. Site by the public directorate Arkivverket. All use of this site is free.
This is the public register for corporations in Norway. From here you can get a lot of company information for free, including annual reports and accounts which other website still try to sell you. A few services still cost small sums, though, like copies of founding documents.

This is a supplementing website run by the Schibsted-newspaper Fædrelandsvennen (www.fvn.no) for metadata on the flow of public documents from public entities not listed on OEP. Innsyn.no includes the university sector, the public health corporations, the armed forces, the church and the police sector. Free of charge, and easy to use when you want to file a FOIA-request.
Statistic data on criminal data
Online database by the National Library in Norway. Large collection of digitalised books (fulltext), historic newspapers (fulltext), radio (digitalised audio), photo and film. Allows you to read books and newspapers from your computer instead of using microfilm in the library. Free use.
This is the primary website for metadata on the flow of public documents from Norwegian government ministries and public directorates. Free of charge, and easy to use when you want to file a FOIA-request.
Online database that provides information from the Norwegian business register (Brønnøysundsregistrene). Why use this one when you have the original source ready at your fingertip? This one is supreme if you are researching a person and all roles of that person. You can do a search for current roles in all businesses in the free version. In the paid version (Purehelp pro) you can do a search for historic roles of a person. (Reminder: If the person you are researching has changed his/her name, you can confirm the namechanges through the search at the Norwegian registry of people (Folkeregisteret) through www.infotorg.no)
Reseptregisteret
The Norwegian Prescription Database (NorPD). Contains data about dispensed drugs in Norway. You can find information about the users of a particular drug or drug class. The data can be split by sex, age and geography. Site run by The Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
This site has maps and very detailed property information. It is updated by the mapping authority in Norway and use is free of charge.
Site with information about anti-democratic movement.
StatBank database by Statistics Norway contains detailed tables with time series on all aspects of public statistics; eg trade, demographics, health, education and public spensing. You can create your own selections and save these in different file formats. They offer an API for advanced use. All is free of charge.
Are you researching a trust, rather than a company? This database is where to look for involved people and founding documents. The public institution called Lotteri- og Stiftelsestilsynet also has a dialogue with the trusts, and sometimes investigate unusual and possible unlaw activities.
